MAB Tardy Policy 2026-2027

Tardy Policy
Regular, timely attendance is critical to a student’s academic success and social development. When students arrive on time, they are able to participate in important morning routines, set a positive tone for the day, and avoid missing foundational instruction.
Daily Morning Schedule
● 7:15 AM: Gate to playground open for arrival window
● 7:30 AM: Arrival bell rings and instruction begins

Tardy Arrival Procedures                                                                                                           Any student arriving at school after 7:30 AM is considered tardy.
1. Office Check-In: Students arriving after 7:45 AM must enter through the main entrance and be accompanied into the front office by an adult.
2. Adult Signature: A parent, guardian, or designated adult must sign the student in on the office attendance log.
3. Tardy Pass: The student will be issued a tardy pass before proceeding to their classroom. Teachers will not admit late-arriving students into the classroom without this pass.
Policy Guidelines
● 1–4 Tardies:
○ Standard classroom management- The teacher will address tardiness directly with the student to encourage punctual habits.
● 5 Tardies:
○ Family Contact- The classroom teacher will reach out directly to the student's family via phone or email to discuss the attendance pattern and discuss solutions.
● 10 Tardies:
○ Health & Wellness Meeting- A formal Health and Wellness meeting will be scheduled with family members, administration, and support staff. Together, we will construct a personalized Student Improvement Plan to address underlying barriers and support on-time arrival.
